My heart is breaking
It's a done deal the big money has given the two thumbs up. In Europe it would be illegal to tear down a historic building:

  1. My heart also breaks to hear this. I remember being in love with Chautauqua when I visited it with my grandmother. I can't believe they would not want to preserve it. Thank you for writing about it.

  2. Chautauqua more and more looks like a Walt Disney, fake Chautuauqua. There has been way too much new building and too much tearing down. A new amp would truly end Chautauqua's life as a historic place. The Kennedy-like compound on the South shore is absolutely horrendous.: http://www.buffalonews.com/city-region/chautauqua-county/national-campaign-launched-to-save-chautauqua-amphitheater-20150127

  3. Very interesting.... and just too bad..... Also why do I see no reference to the poem Rod Serling used in,” No Time like the Past”? Quite lovely to be forgotten..,
